UPDATE 7 p.m.: A city-wide rally for quality care and better benefits drew more than 1,500 low-wage healthcare workers to picket lines on Staten Island on Wednesday.
City-wide there were “tens of thousands” who joined picket lines at hospitals, nursing homes, clinics and other facilities, said Erin Malone, senior coordinator for member communications at 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East.
